CANDIDATES NOMINATED.

A CONTEST IN AUCKLAND. v , . . ■■': The following have been nominated as members of the committee for the Auckland licensing district:— J. Bagnall, J. J. Holland, F. W. King, J. M. Mennie, Wm. Richardson, sen., and W. C. Somers. As there are only five members required, a poll will be taken on Tuesday, March 12. PARNELL. The following have been nominated for the five seats on the Parnell Licensing Committee:—G. W. Basley, A. Clements, G. E. Davis, I. Hill, Wm. Thomas, and W. W. Whyman. An election is necessary in this case also. NO ELECTION FOR MANUKAU. There will not bo a licensing election in Manuka for the "Independent Moderate" ticket—Messrs. John Rowe and Daniel Neilson (Onehunga), Walter Davies (Epsom), William H. Gavin (Ellerslie), and John Brady (Otahuhu)— was elected without opposition on Saturday. THAMES AND RAGLAN.

The following nominations were received on Saturday for the Licensing Committee for the' Thames district:—T. W. Rhodes, M.P., A. R. H. Swindley, J. West, H. P. Hornibrook, and J. Hawkes. The five nominated were all sitting members, and were declared duly elected. The following have been nominated for the Raglan Licensing Committee: —Cornelius Day, G. P. Ewing, Campbell Johnstone, Donald McKinnon, Arthur Morris. As the number nominated does not exceed that required, the district is saved the expense 01 an election.

SOUTHERN COMMITTEES. A Press Association message states that tho Wellington City Licensing Committee which held office last year has been reelected unopposed. Elections are necessary at the Hutt and Suburbs. In the latter case a lady has been nominated. Ten nominations have been received for the Christchurch Licensing Committee, five on tho temperance ticket and five independents. Elections will be contested also at Kaiapoi and Riccarton, the issue in the latter district being the granting of conditional licenses at races, snows, and saloyards. A temperance committee has been returned unopposed for Avon, where there is only one hotel. Ten candidates have been nominated for the Dunedin. City Licensing Committee, five by the moderate party and five by the temperance party. In Dunedin South there are also 10 nominations, five by each party. In Chalmers a, compromise has been effected, the no-license party nominating three candidates and the moderate party two.
