WOMEN INSPECTORS OF FACTORIES.

b:r, —I was very much surprised fo sea by a recent article in tho Herald supplement that there were no women inspectors of factories in tho small towns of the Dominion. In Auckland things are not much better. True, there is a. lady who is appointed to fulfil that position, but her other duties are so numerous that she cannot be expected to give enough attention to that part of her work. In a city like this a woman is required who can civo her whole time to tho inspection of the many factories that employ female labour. Then when one is urgently wanted here, there is also more urgent need of a woman being appointed to travel from one district to the other for tho purpose of seeing under what conditions women work in the .factories of the small towns. Trusting that the Government will be able to improve matters in this rospcot. Suffragette.
