Turkey has protested to the Powers against the Italian men-of-war firing upon Beirut (where they sank two Turkish warships) 20 minutes after giving the first notice. Turkey claims that this is a violation of Articles 1 and 2 of the ninth Hague Convention.
ALLEGED TURKISH HORRORS A AVAR BILL OF £8,000,000. London, February 26. The London newspapers have received a memorandum from the Italian Government giving details of ghastly atrocities committed upon the Italian soldiery during tho attack on the Tripolitan oasis on October 23. The use of dumdum bullets by the Turks and Arabs is alleged. The Italian Chamber of Deputies is considering extraordinary credits for 205,000,000 lire (slightly over £8,000,000) covering the war to the end of February.
