A DOUBLE TRAGEDY.
NATIVE'S TERRIBLE CRIME. BHOOTS HIS WIFE DEAD. THEN COMMITS SUICIDE. [BT mtEGJUPft-OWK CORRESPONDENT.] TB Awamtjtd, Tuesday. t«obiutio« was received in To Awamutu L coming to the effect that a native reBiding at Parawera had shot his wife, and had then committed suicide. At present but few details of the tragedy Tft to hand, as Parawera is ten miles from Te Awamutu. The police have gone to investigate. The man was knownl as Graham, and his wife's name was Wiki Kurnturu. From what can be gathered, it appears that the deceased, who are believed to both be full-blooded Maoris, had not been living very happily together, and their domestic differences had reached such an [icote stage that a separation order was spoken of as the only way of settling matters. A native who was in the vicinity heard the report of a gun at about five o'clock this morning, and subsequently a party of neighbours visited the deceased's house, and there found both the man and the woman lying dead on the floor as the result of gunshot wounds.
