POLICE COURT NEWS.

At the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., Frederick Nicolls was charged with stowing away on board the B.s. Navua on a voyage from the Islands to Auckland, and with being an undesirable immigrant in that he is suffering from a contagious disease. On the first charge he Mas convicted and discharged, and on the second he was ordered to be sent back to Levuka. Alfred Bray was ordered to pay 5s per week towards the support of his child in the Institute for the Blind. Pierce Bowdon was ordered to pay 20s per week towards the support of "his wife. Breaches of prohibition orders cost John Withers and'Jas. Ford £2 each. Elizabeth Knight, who accompanied the latter into an hotel, knowing that ho was a prohibited person was similarly dealt with. Insobriety cost Thoa. Moger 10s; three first offenders ss, and one who had been treated at the hospital 7s 6(1 and 10s 6d costs. An old offender, Mary Allen, was fined 10s.

Patrick Murphy, who coupled obscenity With insobriety, was fined £2, in default seven days' imprisonment. John Oswald ' Mathers was fined 10s for wmg disorderly while drunk.
