THE LENTEN SEASON.

SERVICES FOR MEN

The Chamber of Commerce rooms were well attended yesterday, when the daily services to men, inaugurated by Bishop Crossley, were commenced. The Rev. I'. T. Williams, warden of St. John's College, was the speaker. The subject of his discourses for this weelnis '"The Sanctity of the Body." Yesterday he dealt with "The Christian Idea of the Body." The address was an earnest one, and not only appealed to church people, but conveyed a message for every citizen who has tho well-being of the city of Auckland at heart. In the course of his address the preacher referred to Judge Edwards's remarks last week as to the prevalence of a certain class of crime which might tend to ruin boys. The preacher urged that a great responsibility rested on parents to enlighten their children. The children were often drawn into sin through heedlessness and curiosity. He referred to authorities which showed there was a real need in New Zealand for the Church to lift its voice to raise the tone of public opinion. To-ckr- the discourse will be on "Temptation."
