CHRISTCHURCH TRAMWAYS.
PERMANENT BOARD SET UP.
[BY TELEGBAM.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchtthch, Monday. At a special meeting to-night, the City Council decided, in view of tho proposed reorganisation of tho tramway service, that no appointment of traffic superintendent be niado from tho present applicants. A permanent tramways board was set tip, comprising Messrs. 11. Morton (city engineer), Stuart Richardson (electrical engineer), and tho traffic superintendent. Mr. Morton.will be the chairman of the board which will manage the tramways on policy lines, drawn up by tho Council. This will relieve tho Council, and particularly tho Tramways Committee, of a great amount of detail work. Mr. Cable assist-ant-electrical engineer and assistant-mana-ger of tramways, was appointed actingtraffic superintendent at a salary of £550 a year.
