A Bill has been carried in the Chamber ratifying Italy's sovereignty over Tripoli and Cyrenaica. The measure was received with deafening cheers. The preamble of the Bill declared that the annexation of Tripoli was essential to maintain the equilibrium of political influence in the Mediterranean. The Bill was agreed to by 423 votes to nine. After the division a popular demonstration took place and the King and the Ministers received an ovation. ITALIAN RECRUITS. A PROTEST FROM EGYPT. Cairo, February 24. On the ground that Egypt has not renounced her rights in Eritrea the Egyptian Government remonstrated with Italy for recruiting troops from Eritrea for Tripoli! Italy's action has envoked violent protests from the native press. (Received February 25, 5.5 p.m.) London, February 24. The Times states that it has reason to believe that Great Britain is supporting Italy's views regarding the right to utilise the Eritrean troops. TWO WARSHIPS IN DANGER. AN ATTACK ORDERED. (Received February 26. 12.25 a.m.) Rome, February 25. It is semi-officially reported that the gunboat Volturno and the warship Garibaldi have been sent to Beirut to destroy two warships which are facilitating the shipment of contraband and endangering transports. An instruction has been given that Beirut is not to be bombarded.
