FIRE BRIGADE COMPETITIONS.

«> THE members of the Grey Lynn Fire Brigade held a series of competitions on Saturday afternoon for trophies presented by Superintendent Fenton, Fireman Smith atid Messrs. Donald. Hindley, Cox, Pascoe, Sparnon, the Mayor of Grey Lynn (Mr. W. H. Murray), and the town clerk. The duties of starter were carried out most satisfactorily by. Foreman W. Williamson, while Superintendent Fenton and Senior Foreman Tait acted as judges, exFireman Ashdown and Fireman Carr as examiners, and Captain McLaxighlan (Mount Albert Fire Brigade), ex-Foreman J. Smithson, and Mr. E. G. Collins as timekeepers. The various events were keenly contested, and fast times were recorded. The most successful competitor was Fireman J. Newell, who won the one-man event, while his team was first in the two-men and three-men events. The results are as follows-.— One-man Event (dry): Fireman J. Newell, 34 2-55., 1; Hydrantman Walters, 34 3-ss„ 2; Secretary Kelleher, 40 2-ss. (including Is. penalty), 3. (dry): Firemen J. Newell Two-men Event (dry): Firemen J. Newell and Tait, 38 l-ss. (including Is. penalty), 1; Secretary Kelleher and Hydrantman Walters, 41 3-ss. (including 2s. penalty), 2. Five teams competed. , Three-men Event-(dry): foreman Cole, Firemen J. Newell and Veale, 305., 1: Firemen Binns, Healey, and Walters, 36 l-ss. 2. Four teams competed.
