GIRL AS SOLDIER.
How a tall girl not yet out of her teens inarched down the Waterloo Road wearing the uniform of the 18th Hussars was related at tho Tower Bridge Court, when Mary Chilvers was accused of so bringing contempt en His Majesty's army. ° ° She was. with Hettio Calder, 20. also charged with being disorderly, and Calder was accused of aiding and abetting her in her escapade. A police constable said he saw the girls in Waterloo Road, followed by about 50 men. Chilvers was fully dressed as a soldier of the 18th Hussars, with the exception of the cap. which she carried wrapped in paper. Chilvers said a marine induced her to wear the uniform to have her photograph taken. Sho went to the photographer by tram, and was returning by the same means when she discovered that she was in the wrong car. She was compelled to walk some distance, and a crowd quickly assembled. Chilvers was remanded on her own bail for inquiries; the elder girl was discharged.
