Messrs. J. H. Whitburn, L. Geraghty. and D. Dwyer, -delegates to the. bi-annual conference "of Amalgamated Society of Railway Sen-ants from Auckland district. left by last night's express for Wellington.

Tho Rev. Lewis Hudson, of Christchurch editor of tho New Zealand Methodist Times, is on a visit to Auckland in connection with the session of the Methodist Conference. He is the guest of Mr. G. A. Buttle.

Dr A. L. Napier Mac-Lean died at his residence in Wellington last evening from consumption, aged 46 years (says a. Press Association message). The deceased took a. great interest in athletics, especially boxing, and was referee- at many amateur contests. Ho leaves a widow and two children.
