The full-rigged ship Queen Elizabeth arrived at Wellington vesterdav morning from New York, a;-r a parage of 129 days. She brings * cargo «■: case oil consigned to the Vacuum Oil Company. " Messrs. Bums, Philp, and Company's new steamer Montoro i# to leave Sydney on March 2 on her first vovage to .lava ports and Singapore, and with the steamer Mai arum at present engaged in this service, it is expected that a large passenger trade, will be carried on by this line. The Montoro is of 6000 tons register, and has accommodation for first and second-class passengers. A special feature about the new steamer is the amount of cabin room provided, tlw cabin? being 10ft by 9ft.

THE MAHENO. [laving sailed from Sydney at 1 p.m. on Wednesdey for Auckland direct, the Union Company's steamer Maheno should put in an appearance here about noon tomorrow. The vessel is bringing 119 saloon and 95 steerage passengers, and 700 tons of cargo. She will berth at the Queen-street Wharf on arrival. INDRAPURA . DUE TO-MORROW. The new lyser liner Indrapura is due at. Auck- | land to-morrow afternoon from London and Ausj tralian ports on her maiden voyage to the ! Dominion. The vessel has 4440 tons of cargo j to discharge here, and on arrival will probably i berth at the Queen-street Wharf. lIAUROTO LEAVES SUVA. The Union Company is advised that the steamer Hauroto left Suva at 4 p.m. on Thursday for Auckland, having on board 10 saloon and seven steerage passengers, also a quantity of fruit and general cargo. She should arrive here on Monday evening. WANAKA BRINGS TRODUCE. At 10 a.m. yesterday the Union Company's steamer Wanaka arrived from the Bluff, via way ports, and berthed at the Hobson-street Wharf. Tlw vessel brought a part cargo of produce, 142 eheep. and two horses. She experienced fine weather as far as Banks Peninsula, and then me* with a strong north-west gale and high seas until making Cape Turnagain. Fine weather then prevailed till arrival as above. The Wanaka, on completion of discharge, loads transhipments ex the steamers Henrik Ibsen and Belle of Scotland for Southern ports. She sails on Tuesday next, and is scheduled to load at the Bluff on March 2, Oaniaru on March 4. and Timaru on March 5 for Napier, Gisborne. and Auckland. EASTERN CANADIAN SERVICE. Gable advice has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company to the effect that the steamer Karamea left St. John on Wednesday hist, for Melbourne, Sydney, and the four New Zealand main ports The. vessel makes Auckland her first port of call in the Dominion, and is due hero about April 28. The chartered steamer Waiwera is expected to leave Sydney next week for Auckland and other New Zealand ports in continuation of her voyage from St. John. The vessel is due hero about March 4. and has 500 tons of cargo to discharge at this port. The next, steamer to leave St.. John is the vv'aimate, which is scheduled to sail for Australian and New Zealand port* on March 15 and arrive at Auckland about May 22. She will be followed bv- the Tokomaru, which is fixed to sail on April 15. TOKOMARU BAT-LIGHTS OX LEADING BEACONS. Referring to notice to mariners No. 162 of 1911, the Waiapu County Council has notified the Marine Department* that tho front beacon at Tokomaru Bay now carries a red light and the back or higher beacon a white light. STEAMER DORRIGO ASHORE. A cable message has been received in Sydney stating that the steamer Dorrigo, owned at one time by the North Coast Steam Navigation Company, "end well known in Australia, has been driven ashore on one of the Lan groups, near Fiji. Only the briefest particulars are yet to hand, but the message seems to indicate that the vessel is not in a dangerous position, although she has suffered severe damage. The Dorrigo was but recently acquired by the Fijian Government for the inter-Island business, and is a wooden vessel of 302 tons register. 136 ft lin in length, 24ft 9in in breadth, and lift 7in deep. She was built at Jarvis Bay in 1902. The vessel visited Auckland several months ago for the purpose of docking and repairs.
