MEETINGS.
AUCKLAND WEST POLITICAL REFORM LEAGUE. A general meeting of the members of the recently-formed Auckland West Political Reform League was held in the Leys Institute, Ponsonby, last night, There ■was a very good attendance, and Mr. H. N. Bagnail presided. The ' report of the sub-com-mittee appointed at the general meeting on February 6,' was submitted. The report included the proposed constitution of the league, and its platform. The objects of the league are to help to secure good government, both Parliamentary ; and municipal, by taking an active interest in public .■ matters of i all kinds, "including all elections within the' Auckland West electorate. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr. J. H. Bradnoy, M.P.; president, Mr. H.
S. Easrnall; vice-presidents (subject to their acceptance), Messrs. T. Peacock, J. H. Upton, John Clark, W. 0. Somers, Paul Richardson, R. Farrcll, John Court, C. Bennett. Mesdames Bedford, J. B. Maesey; committee. Mesdames Bagnall, James, McElwain, Sneddan, Muuro, Stevens, Misses Bryant, Bradney. Messrs. J. Freeman. P. McElwain, 8. 1) Sanaa, .{,.. Gardiner, H. E. White, 6. C. Hunt, R. Armiger, P. Bryant, E. A. James, T. O'Shear general secretary. Mr. Walter C. Bruce; secretary to Ladies' Committee, Miss Ross. The election of treasurer was left in the hands of the General Committee. The chairman stated that the next general meeting would be held in about a month's time, when be hoped that Mr. Bradney wouTd be able to be present, as well as a number of the members of the Reform Party. Tho meeting would be of a social character. GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOARD. The Grammar School Board mot yesterday afternoon. Professor Brown presided, and Messrs. C. J. Parr and Dr. Roberton were also present, It wan resolved on the 'motion of the chairman, seconded by Jfr. Parr, that the Board's architect bo instructed to arrange for the fencing and levelling of the Mount Eden School site, the work to be done by day labour, under direction of the Property Committee. AVONDALE ROAD BOARD. The fortnightly meeting of the Avondale Road Board was held, on Wednesday, Mr. J. Potter (chairman) presiding. Thero were also present—Messrs. E. Copsey, If. Campbell. W. H. Wyman, T. H. Spargo, and F. Walker. Before proceeding with ordinary business; Mr. Potter moved that a vote of condolence be conveyed to Mr. C. D. Grey, a member of tin? Board, who is lying dangerously ill. The motion was carried unanimously. ... The following tenders were received for road formation work on New Windsor Road:— and Hunter, £1552 12s: John Irvine, £1803 13s 6d: Pooloy and Leighton, £1804; the lowest tender being accepted.
