His Excellency the Governor (Lord Islington), visited the Maslerton show yesterday.
Mr. A. S. Pond, of Minnesota. U.S.A., left Auckland yesterday, after a few days visit, for Rotorua. Dr W. 11. revel, of Samoa, is at present on a visit to Auckland, and will leave un Monday for Rotorua. Mv M. McLood, of Sydney, is at present on a visit to Auckland, and will leave in a day or two for Rotorua. Mr. J. F. Avson, Inspector of Fisheries, left Auckland by the Main Trunk express last evening for Wellington. Mr. E. W. Spalding, a London visitor to New ZeaUfid, who intends touring the Dominion, left for Wellington last evening. Mr Harrv C. Spfnley has been appointed'to be instructor in the theory of plumbing at the Auckland Technical t ollege. Major A. B. Woodcock, of London, who is en a tour of the world, arrived in Auckland from the Islands yesterday, and is slaying at the Grand Hotel. Dr. Hammer, of Samoa, and Mr. V. V. It. Cox. of Tonga, were passengers for Auckland by the Navua yesterday, and are staying at the Central Hotel. _ Mr. P. Anderson, of Sydney, who has been staving at the Central Hotel, left Auckland for Rotorua yesterday morning. Mr. Anderson will return to this city next week. Mr. W. .1. Macdermott has taken passage by the Rotorua. leaving Wellington ; on March 7. for London. It is 33 year since Mr. Macdermott left England for New Zealand. Mr. P. Sohreuster, manager for a wellknown Islands trading company in Haapai, arrived by the Naviia yesterday, and Ts staying at the Central Hotel. Mr. Schreuster'will leave shortly for England. Mr. James E. Liddiard, F.R.G.S., who has toured through New Zealand from Dunedin, is at present on a visit to Auckland. Mr. Liddiard will leave shortly foe Sydney", proceeding thence to Queensland, and will subsequently go by way of Manila and Hongkong to Japan. Mr. George Groom, who is at present conducting a commercial school in Brisbane, was yesterday appointed commercial instructor at the Auckland Technical College. Mr. G. George, the director of the. college, said the Board was to be congratulated upon securing the services of a man well known for his ability in connection with commercial education. The parishioners of Holy ' Trinity, Devonport, at a social held on Monday evening, extended a welcome home to the vicar (Rev. Mark Suttoj^ l , who has just returned from a trip to India, Europe, and the United Kingdom. Mr. F. G. Ewfng ton, who presided, spoke of,the pleasure experienced by the members of the church at the safe return and improved health of the vicar. Mr. Sutton suitably responded. A musical programme was rendered.
