LOAN PROPOSAL LOST.

[BY. TELEGRAPH.-— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WanoaNlTl, Wednesday. A toll was taken to-day on the proposal to raise £15,000 for the improvement of the water supply by augmenting the water in the main reservoir, and provide ing a settling tank and additional reservoir nt Westmere, near the town. Th« proposal was lost by 76 votes. The Council had £6000 in hand for the purpose of the settling tank, and the mate, rials had all been ordered. The position is now that a tank of only half the proposed size can bo built.
