BIRKENHEAD ROADS.
Sir,—The citizens of Birkenhead are very justly complaining about the disgraceful state of the main road, caused by necessary alterations in grading, etc. After ploughing up road and footpath, no provision is made in any way for pedestrians. For them the traffic has been practically stopped, and those unfortunate ones having business at either end of the borough havo to go considerably out of their way to reach their destination. The condition of things has not been improved by the recent rains, and in several cases both horse and trap have been 'bogged; even our 'buses have had to cease running. At nightfall the darkness deepens, for not a single light is visible to warn anyone of protruding gas pipes and open drains, etc. Trusting wo shall receive some attention to these details, and thanking you for your valuable space- Victim. Birkenhead.
