EXPORT SHIPMENTS.

Surely it is time that our valuable export shipments of butter, cheese, etc., passed through the port of Auckland for direct shipment to London. Last week 17,075 boxes butter and 407 crates cheese left Onehunga for London, via Wellington, while a few days ago a Union Company steamer brought transhipments from some half a dozen steamers from Wellington for Auckland. The more vessel attracted to our port the better for our city. Considerable wharfage must be lost to our Harbour Board by this arrangement, also shipping dues. Shipping.
