Aria settler, '-ifi»,; recently wrote to the Waitomo* County,,' Council asking for a road to his section.' j The applicant states that there is no w.' to his section, though a road has beta surveyed to the section from' the cowity road. He wants to get ■timber on to ba - land to build a house. ' ; The chairman of the Council said, .that -' no doubt there were many * settlers in a" , similar position. Ho was afraid the Coun- ; cil could not do anything in'the matter. There had been no rates collected' 06 the property, and there was no money *T«il* able for the work. There were many dif-. ; ficulties in roading this particular d»-, ; tricfc in consequence of the mixture; of; tenure:?, but in most cases the difficulties would be overcome by taking advantage of the Government subsidies to loans.
