A young Maori, named Tauri, alias Hori Wirihana, was brought/ before Mr. Justice Chapman to-day for sentence on three charges of breaking and entering and theft at Parakine on the Wanganui River. Mr. H. H. Ostler appeared for the Crown. His Honor remarked that the prisoner had a long series of convictions. Attempts had been made to reform him by short terms of imprisonment, but they had failed. . Tauri must be sentenced to two years' reformative treatment on each charge, the sentences to be cumulative.
