: RETURN ..OF £1395. Tun following message was received from tho manager of the New Sylvia mine, Thames, yesterday:—"Treated 847. tons of ore for a return valued at £1395, .

• RETURN OF £270. Tho manager of ; the Mount Welcome mine, Coromandol, telegraphed yesterday as follows :— Crushed . four, tons of general ore and 1751b of picked stone for 03ojt of retorted gold, of an approximate value of £270."

THAMES DRAINAGE BOARD.

ASSESSMENTS SUSTAINED. NO APPEALS TO;•• THE WARDEN. A special meeting of the Thames Drainage Board, for the purpose of dealing with appeals against' the annual assessments, was held yesterday morning. There Were present i Hon. E. Mitchelson (chairman), Messrs. 0. Hudson, Graves - Aiekin, J. Kneebope; A; ; Brown; H. H. Adams, and H. Gilfillan. A similar formal' appeal was received from the Victoria Company, but the secretary "of the company (Mr. J. J. Macky) said it would be withdrawn if there were no other appeals. The Chairman said that this was the first time in the history of the Board that there had been no appeals .to go to : the Warden. On his motion a vote of .thanks was passed to. the, Assessment Committee.
