' The forthcoming six days' bicycle race— to atari at the Sydney Cricket Ground on New Year's Day attracting considerable interest, and from present appearances Australia's first six days' event should produce an interesting contest. Whilst 1 thero has not been the response anticipated from oversea; long-distance champions, a good entry has already been received, for 12 teams of two riders each are said to have already nominated for the Sydney event. So far the following teams have been announced as likely starters: I. Goullett (Victoria) and P. Hehir (Victoria); Dick Arnst (N.Z.), champion sculler of the world, and R. J. McNamara (N.S.W.); A. F. Grenda (Tasmania) and Gordon Walker (Victoria); Ivor Lawson and W. L. Mitten (TJ.S.Ai: Rodgers and Sullivan (Queensland) ■0.. H. Brook and F. D. Walcott (N.S.W.); P. B. Henry and, A. L. Crook .S.W.); E. Priestley and H. H. Vickery (N.S.W.); S. E. Senhouse (N.S.W.) and •F. T. i Keefe (Tasmania); D. Kirkham and A. C.'Colvin (Victoria); F. Foxover (N.S.W.) and another. There is also another good team, which desires that its personnel shall not be 1 made public just yet. Keen disappointment will be felt at the absence of the Australasian champion, A. J. Clark, from the above list, but* it is evident that tho inducements offered have net been sufficient to tempt Clark to Australia. His absence. will bo partly set off by tho reappearance on the track of , two well-known riders in B. Arnst and O. H. -Brook. The former won, the last "Sydney Thousand" before taking to sculling, while Brook also rode with success on • the track .before,' his retiremeat"from" racing'some, ';■ five years, back.
