BOY DROWNED IN RIVER.
ALLS OFF A BRIDGE.

Whang arei, Monday. A boy named Sydney Nelson, 11 years of ago, was drowned in the river aT Kiripaka yesterday afternoon.
Ihe deceased, accompanied by a younger brother aged seven, was on his way home from Sunday-school. He picked up a piece of ropo, and was playing with it whilo crossing the tramline bridge over the river. Ihe ropa apparently tripped him, with the result that ne fell into the stream below. The younger brother, who was unable to render any assistance, immediately ran homo, , about t.hreequartcrs of a mile, and told his mother. Search was made for the body, but nearly an hour elapsed before it was recovered.
The District Coroner (Mr. J. M. Millen) held lan inquest to-day, and a verdict of accidental death was returned. The boy's parents are recent arrivals from England, the father being employed at the coal mines.
