||iS' SERIOUS WOUND INFLICTED. •} [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Monday. • " 1 A serious assault is alleged to have taken j ' place to-day as the sequel of some Police Pj&j Court proceedings in connection with a broken prohibition order. J|||p- Two men named Patrick Carroll, alias - Marshall, and Edward Hanlan were con-, cerned in the case. They returned from /the Court to Ohaupo, where they had some ; > angry words, and it is alleged that Carroll * snatched up an iron bar and chased Hanlan, and that the latter, who had a slash-hook
in his hand, struck Carroll on the head, inflicting a serious wound about six inches '■"long.
m? The police at Hamilton and Dr. Going were communicated with. Hanlan was
arrested, and Carroll was taken to the Waihto Hospital, where he made favourable progress this evening. i' f.• ■
