DROWNING ACCIDENTS.
CHILD FALLS FROM BOAT. CARRIED AWAY BY THE CURRENT. [nr telegraph.—tress association.] Thames, Monday. A drowning fatality is reported from the Hanraki Plains. ~ Two women and a. seven-year-old child named Quarterman were in a boat pulling along tho liver, when tho child overbalanced and fell overboard. The women saw the. child rise to' tho surface, but wore, helpless, and the. body-was soon carried away by the- fast running river. An inquest was held to-day at Porirtia by Dr. McArthur. on'the body of Antonio Ferrctli, a • young Italian, who was drowned at Paremata a fortnight ago, and whoso body was 'recovered on Sunday at the Pa iv mat a Heads. Tho evidence showed that the deceased and his mat© were out in a sailing boat, which capsized at the Paremata bar. Ferret disappeared, but his mate hung on to the boat and was rescued. A verdict was returned that the deceased was accidentally drowned. V. AN OLD MAN'S END. . [by telegraph.—press association.] ... Gore, Monday. An old man. over 80 years of age, named Thomas , Burrows, was found drowned in tho Mystery Flat dredging dam, Waikaia, yesterday. Ho was in bed in the hotel, a mile away, at 11 p.m., on' Saturday night, and how he got away unobserved and walked the distance, being very feeble, is not known. '
