THE CLERKS' UNION.
STOCK AGENTS' EMPLOYEES.
ALL AGAINST UNIONISM.
A sheeting of the clerical, staffs of the Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited Dalgety and Co., Limited; and Buckland and Sons, was held at the office of the first-named yesterday, to 'consider the advisability or otherwise of joining the. United Clerks' Union: Mr. Wm. Knight (Buckland and Sons) was appointed chairman. The feeling was, without reserve, strongly opposed to joining. . On the motion of Mr. J. McCusker (New Zealand Loan and. Mercantile Agency Company, Limited), seconded by Sir. G. Walters (Buckland and Sons), the following resolutions were unanimously carried — 1. That this meeting of the clerical staffs of tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Dalgety "and Co., Limited, and Buckland and Sons, wool, stock, and station agents, are firmly of the opinion that it would in no way bo desirable for them to join the recently-formed Clerks' Union of Auckland, inasmuch as the conditions attaching to their employment do not warrant such a step, in view of tho regular increase in salaries, of bonuses paid, and of the officers' provident fund, as well as other concessions granted. On the contrary, it Would, they consider, be opposed to the best interests of the members of tho respective staffs, particularly from the point of view of advancement; moreover, they have nothing but satisfaction to express, so far as their employers are concerned." "2. That' a petition be made to the effect that wool, stock, and station brokers be included in the list of firms to be exempted from the award of the said union." " 3. That a copy of the foregoing resolutions be forwarded to the president of the Clerks' Union of Auckland and to the respective managers of the companies abovenamed."
