Ax enthusiastic gathering of marksmen was held here this evening, when it was decided to form a Wellington Rifle Association for the purpose of "holding a prize meeting at Trent-ham on New Year's Day and the day following. This step has been taken as the Garrison Rifle Association will not be ; able to conduct its usual New Year's meeting on account of the changes taking place in the defence forces. The meeting will be open to all rifle club men and territorials, and a prize list on a scale hitherto unattempted will be provided with a view to attracting entries from all parts of both island There will bo six matches. : Each will bo a 10-shot event, the distances decided being 300 yds, 500 yds, 600 yds. 800 yds, 900 yds and 1000 yds. There will be a champion teams match, seven shots at 300 yds, SOOvds and 600 yds. A strong committee has been elected, and full details will be arranged at a subsequent meeting. . - ° , '
