In the House of Assembly Mr. Minahan moved in favour of the abolition of the tied house' system. He "asked for the appointment of , a Royal. Commission to inquire into the subject, and declared that 99 per cent, of Sydney hotels were tied. The real evil was that brewers would j not'; accept payment . of debts on. hotels. Labour party as the -ideal * reform party, but \ sooner than listen to some of the things said by them during the debate he would , support the drink evil and resign as a member of the party. The Bill passed committee.
