NEGLECTING THE RAILWAYS.

Horrell) moved —"That this executive deplores the attitude adopted by : a number of * farmers ■who,*" though they have -the- railway- at their doors, sent their produce to market by traction"" engine." He said that- in-his own district nearly all the wool was sent by traction engine, with the , result .-that damage wa3 done to ' bridges en route to the extent of £10 or 1 £20 every trip. It was & • "penny ' wise pound foolish" policy, and indirectly they must, be losing more to the railways and in the upkeep of 'their Toads and bridges. The motion was agreed to. - -■• ■ '
