AMATEUR SPRING CARNIVAL.
The spring carnival of tho Auckland Amateur Atliletic and Cycle Club, to bo hold on tho Domain on Saturday next, should be decidedly interesting. The entries are numerous, and amongst them are the names of many well-known track-men, as well as of "unknowns," whose appearance is awaited with interest, in the hope that included in their ranks is tho material of which champions a.ro made. Amongst the athletes who will competo in tho 880 yds, ono mile, and threo miles, is G. N. Hill, tho New Zealand champion distance runner, who is in excellent form just now. . ... ■
A. A. Dormer (Opunake), who holds the Victor Lndorum cup, has entered. Dormer has shown much promise as an athlete, and his performances will bo closely watched. J. R. Simpson, the Auckland 100 yds champion, is doing well in his training, and should bo at tho top of his form next Saturday. J.' W. Bennett (Hamilton Club), who won t.h™ one-mile walk at the last carnival, is said to bo in excellent form.
J. C. Whitney, one, of Auckland's representatives at the last New Zealand championships, is also among the competitors. The meeting between J. Adlam and E. W. Burton in the 'cycle events should be worth going a long way to see, and the handicapping of these two riders will be awaited with some interest.
C. Reid, who represented Auckland in the 1910 New Zealand championship, is running in snlendid form at present, and should do well this season.
