By Telegraph.—rress Association Copyright. Vienna, November 9. An Austrian merchant in Tripoli writes that the Italians fed the hungry and were vilely betrayed. It is true, he says, that Italians shot some women, but these, under cover of their sex, had carried arms and ammunition to the men assailing the troops. General C'aneva (Italian Governor of Tripoli) asserts that the women, concealed behind the bushes, fired on the Italians. "Washington, November 9. Dtousseff Zia Pasha, Turkish Ambassador to America, has issued a statement that Turkey (fries not wish the United States to act as mediator. The Turkish Embassy, he says, merely asked the United States Government to intervene with a view to stopping Italian atrocities and the slaughter of women and children. The Italian Embassy has issued, a denial of the alleged cruelties. The Department of State is not taking action. ITALIAN CONSULAR REPORT. Sydney, November 10. The Italian Consul's official cables report brilliant successes for • the Italians between October 23 and 28, which ended in the total defeat of the enemy at Derna and Tobruk. Insignificant fights occurred without loss to the Italians on November 7 on Governor Caneva, at Tripoli, proclaiming the annexation of Tripolitania and Cyrenaica to Italy.
