FOUR AND A-HALF MILLION, By Telegraph.Press Association,—CoprriffiS. (Received October 31, 12.5 a.m.) Melbourne, October 30. The final census returns give the population of Australia as 4,445,005, showing an increase during the 1901-11 period of 681,204. ■
The increase in Victoria- during that period was 114,431, in New South Wales 293,602, in Queensland 107,884, in South Australia 50,212, in West Australia 97,990, and in Tasmania 18,736. ;
