SHAVING A GIRL.
AN EXPENSIVE JOKE. At the Colac (Victoria) Police Court last week a girl named Eezia Jane Baker charged Thos. Smith and Robert Baker with having assaulted her. The informant stated that, defendant put her on a table, lathered her face, and shaved it with a razor. Smith held her down, and shaved one cheek. Then Baker held her while Smith shaved the other cheek. . ~
Robert Baker said that as he was shaving himself informant jokingly "I have more hair on my; face than you." He replied, "Come on, then, I will shave you. He then shaved her, and she laughed about it. Ihomas Smith denied having tried to shave the girl. b ulO The magistrate said he believed the girl S j story, that both defendants had shaved her, but her evidence was uncorroborated as against Smith,' the charge against whom would-be dismissed. Baker was fined £5, with £4 costs.
