PERSONAL ITEMS FROM LONDON.

[FROM OUR own CORRESPONDENT. J London*, September 23. Mr. and Mrs. F. Ross (Cambridge) are returning to New Zealand by the s.s. Remuera next week. —. t Mr. and Mrs. N. Alfred Nathan (Auckland) have removed to another flat. From 38, Hyde Park Gate, they have gone to Albert Hall Mansions.

Mr. A.'W. Donald (Auckland) is about to bring, his visit to this country to a close. He has made arrangements to sail for America at the end of next week.

It is officially gazetted that Captain, Arthur W. Macarthur-Onslow, of the 16th (Queen's) Lancers, is seconded for service under the Government of the Dominion of New Zealand. \

It is officially gazetted that Captain J. S. Maidlow, Royal Horse and Royal Field Artillery, has been seconded for service under the Government of New Zealand — dated September 12. Mr. Alfred Kidd has been touring in Ireland. He arrived in Glasgow last night preparatory to a trip through the Highlands. Ho has done over 3000 miles of motoring in England and Wales. Sergeant-Major Wallingford, who has been given a commission in the New Zealand Defence Force, has left for the Dominion. He is a celebrated rifle shot, and was recently musketry instructor at Hythe. At the office of the High Commissioner, the following Aucklanders have entered their names during the week : —Mr. H. Wright, Miss Mabel Lewis, Mr. and Mr«. W. S. 'Furby, Mr. C. G. Irving, Mr. E. S. Wight. Mr. and Mrs. G. Palairet (Gisborne), who have been on a lengthy visit to tho Old Country, are about to return to New Zealand. . After a tour through France, they will join at Marseilles the P. and O. steamer Moldavia on October 13, and go by her direct to Auckland. Mr. A. A. Martin (Auckland) has arranged to visit Germany and America before going on to New Zealand toward the end of the year. Accompanied by Mrs. Martin and their family, he has lately completed a very pleasant motor tour of England, Wales, and Scotland. Mr. Henry H. Scotland (Auckland) has gone to New York to take up a position with the Westinghouse Electric Company of Pittsburg. His wife is with him. also his brother, Mr. J. W. H. Scotland. Their plane are not yet definite, and it is quite possible that business will call them back to New Zealand about the end of the year 1912.

Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Furby (Auckland) have just reached England after a sojourn in the principal centres of Australia. They are at 33, Kensington Garden Square, whore a few months will be passed. Later a general tour will be made of England and the Continent, and it is not expected that New Zealand will be reached before the end of 1912. Mrs. Seddon and her daughters are in town, staying at the Portland Hotel. London will be their headquarters until the return journey to New Zealand is undertaken, which will be after the wedding of Miss Rubi Seddon some time in October. Miss Seddon has been staying for a few weeks at St. Annes-on-Sea, a quiet Lancashire seaside resort, where she has been having a rest. Visits have recently been paid to many friends in Englan dand Scotland, and a very pleasant time has been spent renewing former friendships.
