Ernest Barry, of Wandsworth, easily defeated W. H. Fogwell, of New South Wales, the champion of New Zealand, for the English championship, on the Thames recently. Since Barry won the title from George Towns, in 1908, he has twice cuccessfully defended it, on the previous occasion against another Englishman, W. Albany. The photograph shows the oarsmen passing Hammersmith Bridge, where Barry took the lead.
