In connection with the proposed ArnstBarry race on the Thames for the sculling championship of the world, the Sportsman states that Barry's supporters have increased the offer of expenses to Arnst to £500. Jack Arnst had a- new boat built for the race with Albany. the craft being speciallydesigned .by a Putney firm. it is constructed on lines entirely new, and has an easier "bilge" than the ordinary English sculler. Tho shape is described by a practical -workman as being between a "V" and a "U." The weight is in a different position with a view to preventing tho boat from burying aft as the oarsman comes forward. Built of Honduras cedar, and named George Seifert, the boat's measurements are: —Length 25ft- 6in, width 12in, centre depth 6in, forward depth 4|in, aft depth 3£?'n, slide 29in, rigger spread, 4ft- 9Jin. wcirilt (complete with riggers) 26iUlk
