GOLF.
AUCKLAND CLUB. : - PERMANENT COURSE DECIDED. The permanent course for the links of the Auckland Golf Club at Middlemore, Otahubu, has nowbeen decided upon, and several. of the new holes aro to be opened at an early date. The new course, which will be over 60COyds, will probably be the longest in the Dominion, and when fully bunkered it will be one of the most sporting. Golfers are well . satisfied with. the freehold purchases they have made at Otahubu, and the Auckland Golf Club is now in the fortunate position of having to close its membership list for a time. A match will be played 'at Middlemore Park to-morrow between players from the South Auckland golf clubs and members of the local club. Teams, will be chosen from the following players:— South Auckland Clubs: Gillies, Xicol, Bond, Kusabs, T. Morpeth, J. Banks, Russell, Wells, Seifert, Swarbrick, S. Morpeth, Gooch, Muir, Kenrick, Jackson, Mcßride. Auckland Club: Burns, Colbeck, MacCormick, Bamford, Lusk, Dargaville, Foster, Tonks, Miller, Stringer, Burge, Sharland. Clark, Gilftllan, Hall, H. Horton, Dawson, Macfarlane, Richmond, Pierce, Frater. Any of the players named who are unable to take part in the matches are requested to advise the secretary promptly. The four-ball best-ball (bogey) competition, set down for to-morrow, has been postponed till the following Saturday. Conditions of play will be announced later.
MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB. The Maungakielde Golf Club will conclude tomorrow a very successful season with driving, approaching, and putting competitions, for which post entries may be made with' the secretary. Members are reminded that the driving competition starts at two p.m. In the approaching and putting competitions the committee has arranged to handicap the players, and the aggregate score for three balls will bo taken. CAMBRIDGE CLUB. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Cambridge, Thursday. The last monthly medal competition of the season will be played on Wednesday and Saturday- of next week. Playing on the local links this week M. Wells put up a record among local players ;by going round in 83 (41 and 42). MANAWATU LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP [BY TELEGRAPH.— PBEBS ASSOCIATION.] Palmebston North, Thursday. ■ The Manawatu ladies' open > golf championship meeting was continued to-day in wet weather. In the second round of the championship Mrs. Williams beat Miss McLean, 6 up and 5 to play; Miss A. Pearce beat Miss Moore, 6 up and 5 to play; Miss Gould beat Miss Wilson, 5 up and 3 to play; and Miss Gorrie beat Mite Cowper, u up and 5 to play. The bogey match was won by Mrs. L. \ Seifert (Manawatu), handicap 16, 3 up; Miss G. Gorrie (Auckland), handicap 6, 1 up, being second; Mrs. Strang (Manawatu) all square, and Miss vfray (Manawatu) 1 down. Miss Wray put in the best card (85), and Miss A. Pearce, Miss Gould, and Mrs. Williams each returned cards of 87. ; The four-ball match was iron by Mrs. Moßae (14) and Miss Moore (14), 5 up; Miss G. Gorrie (5) and Miss Humphreys (8) second, 4 up; Mrs. Williams (2) and Mrs. Abrahsm (12) third, 3 up. The semi-finals and final of the championship will be played. to-morrow. .. ~, ,
