TWO CHILDREN KILLED.

EXPLOSION IN SHAFT. As the result of an explosion, a shocking fate befell two children at Davyhurst (W.A.) last week. Harry and Robert Howe, aged seven years and five years respectively, were at play in the vicinity of a shallow shaft, at the bottom of which V?as a quantity of explosives, as the shaft had been converted into a magazine. The children descended the ladder to amuse themselves by playing at mining. It is thought one of the children struck a match, and dropped it on a barrel of powder. Robert'was killed instantly, whilst Harry received injuries which terminated fatally in the course of three hours. ■
