GOOD ROADS FOR MOTORING.
EXTRA DUTY ON PETROL.
[BY TELEGRAPH. SPECIAL COKHESPOND2NT-1 Wellington, Friday. The badness of roads and the difficulties of strange places have suggested their own remedy to Mr. Se&don, the member for Westland. He intends to ask the Minister for Customs to impose an extra duty of l£d per gallon on petrol for use in motor cars, and to earmark the revenue from that source for expenditure on the improvement of roads, tarring to reduce the dust nuisance, and the erection of direction posts.
