A QUAINT REQUEST.
Mr. Frederick Jaqots*Myers, J.P., of Charlton Lodge, Charlton. Northants, who left estate of the gross value of £119,955, with net personalty £71,799, "so far as can be at present ascertained," gave:— £200 to the vicar and churchwardens of Charlton upon trust, to apply the income in keeping in order the new burial ground at Charlton, to the intent that it may be maintained "as though it were my garden," that the shrubs, conifers, and suchlike trees be clipped or tied up and the young deciduous trees removed before they shall do harm to the Irish yews, and further, that the grass avenues shall be kept mown during the summer with a lawn mower to a width of not less than 10ft, and the rest of the grass kept short with the scythe. The balance of the income, if any is to be put towards the erection of an ornamental fence or wall around the ground, and he trusted that the ground might soon be enclosed on all sides in such a way. , '
