Rhodes) cabled to the London office 0! the Waihi Gold Mining Company- yesterday as follows: —" No. 8 level: Scorpion south-east crosscut, 604 ft driven. No. 9 level: Reptile south-east crosscut, 785 ft driven. Royal lode (west of No. 5 shaft crosscut): At 771 ft the width ot the lode is 9ft; value £1 2s per ton. Edward lodo: South from Perch crosscut, 30ft, driven (470 ft to 500 ft), £4 16s per ton. At 500 ft the total width of the lode is 18ft; value, £2 19s 6d per ton. Level , No. 10: Have recommenced driving the northern crosscut." - TRANSVAAL MINES. The progressive statement issued by the Transvaal Chamber of Mines shows that the gold yield from the Transvaal mines for the month of May reached 685,9510z fine, valued at £2,913,734. Compared with the corresponding period of last year the present return represents an increase of £221,126. NOTES. The manager of the Zeehan Consolidated mine reports that the reef in tho low level at last breaking down was left over 4ft ■ wide, and showed gold freely apart from the sulphide values. ; Samples of ore from the new lodo in the Gordon low level of the Tellurides Proprietary mine, Marototo, have been assayed by Professor Jarman. The results are deemed to be very satisfactory. ....-,„.
