COMMITTEE. -' The General Committee of the Young Women's Christian Association elected a* the annual business meeting' had its first meeting yesterday. The retiring president (Mrs. Mactier) welcomed to the Committee those taking their seats, for the first - time; viz., Mesdames Grant, A. J. Campbell, H. Brown, E. de 0. Clark, Miss Macky. On the nomination of Mrs... i Mactier, Mrs. Knight was unanimoußly elected president for , the _ ensuing year.'; , Mrs. Mactier and Mrs. Perry, were elected! vice-presidents. Mrs. E. do C. Clark \ was appointed honorary secretary, and, . Miss J. Buttle - treasurer. -A vote of I thanks, was passed to Miss McGlashan for her. past services as treasurer. Mrs Kayo, representative of the New. Zealand Y.W.C.A. at the: International Conference last year at Berlin, is to visit Auckland. on September 9, and arrangements ... for her reception were delegated to a sub- :' committee consisting of Mrs. Craig, Mrs. Dettmann, and Mrs. Grunt. The following sub-committees were appointed :— House, finance, social, evangelistic, mis- . > sionary, and educational. The house superintendent's report showed a very busv month. The house had been very , full, and strangers to the town had constantly to be refused- as accommodation was too limited. The report of the general secretary showed that steady work was being accomplished at each class' and club. Workingmen's Club and Mechanics' Institute was held in, the club hall, Coburg'-street, last, night. A -large 1 number \of members were present. Mi-. C. F. ; Mark, president, was in the chair. The adoption of : the half-yearly report and balance-sheet was agreed to. The balancesheet showed assets totalling £7106 3s 6d, with liabilities £248 116s Id. A meeting to bid farewell to Mr. and ;I' Mrs. Burrow, who leave the Dominion shortly to • take up mission work in 80-*, ■.-. ? livia, was held last night in St. Andrew's Hall. The Rev. A. A. Murray occupied ': I the chair, and short addresses were given' by Messrs. .A. C. , Brown, A. Keals, and Mains. The Loyal United ■Brothers' Lodge, "National Older of Oddfellows, celebrated its 32nd anniversary in tho Druids' Hall last evening, there "being a large attendance of members and friends, also several- ;0 members from England. , !
