Johansen was* quietly engaged at his work when, it is stated, the Austrian came up to him and without any Provocation raised his spade and struck Johansen violently on the head with it. 't' ' ' The ' injured man was taken to-the J jjgylum hospital, where he received medi- ■ ; cal attention, but ho gradually sank, and Slaspired yesterday morning. An inquest will bo held by the Coroner -■ (Mr. T. Grcsham) at tho asylum at two o'clock this afternoon.
