A RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

MAN FOUND UNCONSCIOUS.

Unconscious, and bleeding freely from the head, William Kane, of Mangere, was found lying near the railway lines at Penrose, on Saturday morning. The injured man was removed to the Auckland Hospital, but as he was still unconscious last sight he was unable to relate the circumstances of the accident. It is supposed that the injuries were the result of a rail--iway accident. , ,\ „ Kane was employed at the Newmarket railway workshops, and should have arrived home on Friday evening. His nonarrival at home did not cause anxiety, as it was thought he might have been detained at the workshops. The guard of a passing train -who found Kane, states that the surroundings go to support the idea ; that he was struck by a train. H The injuries sustained by Kane are of a serous nature. He was " considerably bruised, and his skull ■- has been badly gnashed.- His condition is serious.
