Ho caused a tremendous sensation to-day by pressing, for the purposes of the roans, an area of 130,988 acres on behalf of himself (Honeri Whakarehu), his wife (Makuini), and nine members of his family, reserving over and above that huge area some 140,000 acres : for himself and his family. The land, which is situated in various parts of the Taupo district, comprises the following blocks:— Whangamata, BCOO acres; Roto- ;; kawe, 2888. acres; Tukau, 30,000 . acres; Te Waimahana, 12,000 acres; Kokahi : ■ 18,000 acres Kaimanawa, 30,000 acres .Waikare, 27,000 acres; Atakaha, 300 acres; Paeroa-Rawhiti, 12,000 acres. The : AVhangamata Block contains a large area «£ totara, while on To Waimahana are hot >nd sulphur springs.
