NICOLA, THE MAGICIAN.
Nicola, the magician, submitted himself to another severe test last night, but all attempts to frustrate his performance failed. He was placed inside a specially-prepared sack, which was tied securely, and the knots sealed. He retired from view inside an enclosure, which was raised from the floor at the request of some persons who were of opinion that Nicola was assisted by someone coming through a trap-door. The audience waited for seven minutes, when Nicola appeared free, the sack being untouched in any respect. For to-night Nicola has accepted an unusual test. A local undertaker is to send upon the stage a strong coffin, in which Nicola will be sealed up. To-morrow's matinee and tomorrow night will be Nicola's last performances in Auckland, and will bring to a close a most successful season. A special test of a most dangerous and sensational nature will be put on for to-morrow night.
