AUCKLAND 1 CLUB. Tho annual meeting of the Auckland Bowling (flub was held in the pavilion, Grafton Ros.d, last evening, tho prosidont (Mr. J. Thornes) presiding over a large at , tondanco of members. The annual report I and balancc-sheot were road and adopted. Tho report referred to tho principal tournaments of tho year, and corded the results. ./ •> In intcrclub matches tho members won 10 matches and lost five. Reference was made , to the club's opposition to tho proposed constitution of the Northern Bowling Association, and also to the negotiations between tho City Council's Works Committee and tho club in regard to an exobango of sites. The Council did not confirm the proposal of tho Works Committee, and tho matter has thereforo been deferred. • During tho recent heavy rains tho bank slipped : further on to tho club's property. Tho Council has been notified, and tho town clcrk has written requesting tho committee to again meet tho Works Committee to con»ic!cr tho matter. Reference was made to the serious loss sustained to tho club by the deaths of two esteemed members, Messrs. J. M. Brigham and Wm. Gorrie. were congratulated on tho continued financial prosperity of tho club. Tho balanco of income over expenditure ; amounted to £38 18s lOd. Tho general expenditure was heavier than .usual, while tho greens also demanded moro than tho usual expenditure. Tho total membership of tho club now stands at 128, including honorary and country members, as against 132 at the end of the previous season. The report and balance-sheet showed that the club was in a sound financial position. Ibo election of officers resulted in Mr. J. E. " aquatics. YACHTING. The 20-footer Mei was hauled up at Devonport on Saturday. The keel yacht Rewi was hauled up at Judge's Bay on Tuesday. The yachts Why Not and Miro were hauled, up at Freeman's Bay on Saturday last Mr. W. B. Wine, of Ireland-street, Free- ' man's Bay, has just completed a 22ft mulletboat, 7ft 9in beam, which he hopes to race . next season.' It is pleasing' to ago that other public bodies are now taking notice of the waterside robberies. At the last ' meeting of tho Devon port Borough Council the matter was referred to by Messrs. Considino and Tapper, and a motion was passed calling the attention of the Minister for Justice to the thefts from yachts, and requesting that provision bo made for the •_ protection of small craft in the harbour, uiie Council also suggested that the police be furnished with a launch. KogaJ engine, for New Plymouth., Ho is faying down a 22ft launch, to bo fitted with an 8-h.p, Regal 2-cycle engine, and a .35ft launch, to ba fitted with a 10-h.p. 2-oycle Regal engine. He has fitted a 4-h.p. Regal engine to the launoh Avis, owned by Messrs. Curry and Keyes, of Birkenhead. He reports tho sale of one 5-h.p. and on© 7-h.p. Regal engine, to be shipped on Satur- . An interesting letter was received yesterday from M. E. Champion, Auckland's representative at tho I cstival of Empire ports. Ho stated that he was in excellent health, and that tho English climate did not ' affect him at all.
