ACCIDENTS TO FOOTBALLERS.
The outdoor sports on Saturday were responsible for a number of serious accidents, several cases of broken bones- being the result.
There was quite a chapter of accidents at Alexandra Park, " the homo of Rugby football." Two members of the _ City Club's third grade team received injuries which necessitated their removal to the "hospital. V. Tomlinson sustained a fractured leg, and A. Hodgson a broken jaw. Tho Newton fifth grade team also lost two members; Lynch severely strained his leg, and Graham received injuries which prevented him taking any further part in the game. W. A. Gray, of the University senior team injured his knee and had to retire; and D. Miller, of the Grafton senior team also had his leg injured, and took no further part in the, game. Dr. Stride attended to tho sufferers.
In the Association game of football, A. Cantell, goalkeeper for the Everton first division team, had his collarbone broken at the Devonporfc Domain. His injury was attended to by Dr. Atkinson, and valuable assistance was rendered by Messrs. Williams and Chalmers, of North Shore. •
The Northern Union game was responsible for two injuries, Weripuki and Weston, of the North Shore Albion team, having to leave the field, the former through injuries to his face, and the latter because of a sprained ankle. At the Remuera Hockey ground, two pl&yars in the University-Auckland match siretanied injuries.
