THE WRECK OF THE ASIA.
AN OFFICER CENSURED. By Telegraph.—Frcs' Association.—Copyright. (Received Jane 18. 5.5 p.m.) New York, June 17. An investigation held at the British Consul-General's Office at San Francisco, found that the third officer (Johnson) was responsible for the wreck of the Pacific Mail Steamship Company's steamer Asia, by not exercising due caution in keeping a lookout. He was censured for this and for exercising poor judgment in setting so fine a course in dangerous waters. The Asia went ashore on Finger Rock, Tarchan Island, south of Shanghai, on April 23. _________
