WAS IT MURDER?
A native while canoeing at Abemama, in (he Gilbert Islands, recently, was reported to be struck by lightning. . Ho was found by other natives, who buried him on shore without the native kauburi (.magistrate) having .seen tho body. On the next, day, when Dr. Murdoch, the British Resident Commissioner, hoard of the matter, he asked Captain Dillamore, of the steamer Eugenie, and Mr. N. Chatfiekl, supercargo of the steamer Tamlx), to go to Kabauaki to ecu tho body exhumed, the object being to lind out whether the native was struck by lightning or foully killed.
