MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD.
—— -o»— -■■■ ■■■—.—■ ItOADIXG ON ENDOWMENT LAND. A special meeting of tho Mount Roskill Road Board was held on Wednesday evening, when there were present: Messrs. Chas. Bagley (chairman), T. E. Hayr, C. Worrall, .T. Haslett, Geo. Winstone, J. Ambury, E. J. Herd, and T. F. Booth (clerk). Tho Chairman reported that everything was m order for roading and opening up tho Manukau Harbour endowment, the first instalment of £750 out of tho £2000 promised by the Department now being available, while the Board's engineer, Mr. P, E. Chen!, had drawn up tho plans and specifications. I was resolved that tenders bo called for tho loading of sections 1, 2, and 3 of the endowment. Mr. Bagley expressed his pleasure at the opening lip of the endowment. It meant that 336 acres of land would 'soon bo available for lease on tho Glasgow system, besides which the new roads would intersect Ridge Road, White Swan Road, and the proposed Waikowhai Park Road. Mr. Bagley was congratulated upon tho success attending his efforts. A largely-signed petition was road in favour of establishing an up-to-date post office near the Veterans' Home, and naming it the Mount, Roskili Post and Telegraph Office, instead of To Talu, as at present. Tho Board will consider the proposal fully at next meeting. On the motion of the Chairman, it. was decided that the Tramways Company bo. approached, and urged to duplicate the tramlines from Epsom to tho Royal Oak, with a view to improving the service.
